North Beach Dog Beach is one of Perth’s smaller but yet calmer and safer beaches and it is located just 16kms north of Perth. It is located within the City of Stirling, Perth WA.
The beach is popular with dog owners because there is a council approved dog exercise area and the water is relatively shallow and usually quite calm.
North Beach is a short walk from the Flora Terrace café strip, so you can stop for a coffee or a milkshake at one of the cafes while your dog refreshes himself at one of the many complimentary dog watering bowls along the strip. Some of the shops also sell dog treats. If you want a relaxed, well behaved (and exhausted dog), then I recommend exercising him on the beach before the refreshment stop.
There are two main access points to North Beach:
-
- Access via the Flora Tce strip / Lawley Street (a bit of a rocky incline – careful if you have an excitable, powerful dog that might pull you down in his excitement of the pending beach and water activities!).
-
- There is safer and easier access to the beach at the south end of the beach via some stairs.
Neighbouring beaches and commutable suburbs to North Beach include Carine, Churchlands, Doubleview, Gwelup, Innaloo, Karrinyup, Scarborough, Trigg, Watermans Bay, Wembley Downs, Woodlands, Balcatta, Balga, Dianella, Glendalough, Hamersley, Herdsman, Joondanna, Mirrabooka, Nollamar, Osborne Park, Stirling, Tuart Hill, Westminster, Yokine.
If you live in any of these locations you might want to take your dog to North Beach Dog Beach. They will be sure to wag their tail all the way there and back! If you live close to North beach or any beach and you need a house sitter or dog / petsitter, then they might also want to take your dog to the beach while they are housesitting for you.
Consider the below factors that present a win-win opportunity for you and your dog:
- Dogs love the beach!
- Our pet sitters love the beach!
- Our pet sitters love dogs!
- Dogs love our pet sitters!
- You love going on holidays whilst knowing that your dog is being exercised and loved (and your home cared for)!
- Peasholm Street dog beach, Scarborough
- Trigg Beach (between Kathleen and Bennion streets only)
- North Beach (between Castle and Margaret streets only).
Their website also indicates that “dogs are permitted on-leash in most public places, unless otherwise sign posted. You can exercise your dog without a leash at most of the City’s parks and reserves, providing the dog is under effective control at all times.”
Reminder: Please make sure to clean up after your dog when you are out walking or at the beach! There are on-the-spot $100 fines for not cleaning up your dog’s poop.
